Empire Promise Youth Summit a Smashing Success!

This year’s Empire Promise Youth Summit, Don’t Just Survive, THRIVE was a smashing success!

LPP students from across NYS worked together over the course of three days, in ten diverse tribes, while competing in challenges to see which tribe would claim the title of sole Survivors. All tribes were THRIVING!

Students were tested in their ability to quickly form a cohesive tribe. They learned how to navigate challenging team dynamics, how to come together to problem solve, to communicate and to channel diverse opinions and perspectives in order to maximize results.

The conference exceeded expectations confirming what we already know - that play is a critical and effective tool for engagement and learning.

Students didn’t want it to end, and not just because of the friendships they made, or the amazing luau dinner and dance party.  Many students asked if we could come together after the event to virtually carry on conversations about leadership and group dynamics that they wanted to unpack and discuss in more depth.

Stay tuned for "Survivor, Thriving After the Show", where we will post the results of these conversations and panel discussions with attendees.

In the meantime, don't forget to check out our Facebook page for photos & videos of the event!!!

We wish to thank our leaders at NYSED and our State Legislators for giving us this space to bring cutting edge programming to students.  We couldn’t do this without you!
