Looking Ahead: Advocacy Day

In just a few short days students from Binghamton LPP and Susquehanna Valley LPP will be attending Advocacy Day in Albany, NY.

The trip will kick off Monday with a college tour at the State University of New York at Albany, where they will meet with LPP Alumni Angelina Mead and see everything the University has to offer.

Then on Tuesday the real work begins.  Our students will meet with their state legislators—armed with data, facts, and passion—to advocate for necessary funding for our LPP programs. Finally, they will attend a press conference inside the Well at the Legislative Office Building.

The students selected to attend this year’s event are Myles Bahnuk, Sakina Husseini, Trey Parker, Madison Turner, Isabelle Thompson, King Isaac, Jaslene Richard, Nakyra Bryant, and Carlos Martinez.

This is an amazing opportunity for LPP students to experience firsthand how our government works, learn about the importance of advocacy, and see the difference their voices can make!

Meet some of the students below—and let’s wish them luck as they prepare to meet with their New York State Legislators!

“I am excited to get to travel to our state’s capital with the Liberty Partnership Program. I am most looking forward to meeting our state Senator, Lea Webb and our New York State Assemblywoman, Donna Lupardo. I am very interested in learning more about each of their roles and also being able to get to use my voice in advocating for what Liberty Partnerships Program means to me.”
